Oh Yeah?

I thought I'd try once again to catch Nathan rocking out on video, but, once again, he went into silly mode as soon as the camera went up. He recently started this "Oh Yeah!" while dancing that I thought was pretty entertaining so I figured I'd post it anyway, even if there really is no dancing involved! And the stuff that follows the "Oh Yeah!" is pretty weird/funny, too. Oh two-year-olds - they'll do anything for a laugh. :)

Preschool Project #1

When I picked Nathan up from preschool today, his teacher asked whether I thought he would be able to work on a project, with him being a year younger than his classmates. Of course I said he'd love to (I can't pass up a project). She then explained they were celebrating the 100th day of school this week and she was passing out poster board the kids (and their parents) were supposed to use to affix 100 of absolutely anything. The suggestions were stickers, q-tips and things around the house. However, when I explained this to Nathan and asked what he wanted to collect, he decided to go outside (no surprise there)! We soon found ourselves guarding a big bowl of pin oak leaves against the wind. :) So Nathan decorated by drawing what he said was trees and wind and I helped him tape 100 leaves to the poster. I think it turned out pretty darn cute for a first project, don't you? Sorry I only took one progress picture, as I was heavily involved with the leaf-taping. Happy Monday! :)

Those Crazy Cousins

Saturday morning the only question I heard was "When are they getting here!?" Nathan was very impatient awaiting the arrival of Grammy and Poppy and his cousins Joley and Riley. Unfortunately when they got here, they brought the rain with them so the kids were forced to eat pizza and watch movies indoors (oh, the horror!) But Sunday morning we zipped up our jackets and headed out into the mucky yard. They did everything from riding the four-wheeler to collecting pine cones to throw in the creek to teeter-tottering (while singing this lovely song taught by Nana). When the wind got to be a little too much, we went inside and got out the finger paints and play-dough. From the viewpoint of a little kid - pretty sweet day, right? We were sad to see them go, but I know it's going to be a weekend Nathan talks about for a while. I hope everyone else had a wonderful weekend and I hope y'all enjoy this small glimpse into ours. :)

P.S. If you are just itching for more of that cousin cuteness - click HERE to visit the entire Facebook album of these three crazy kids. Enjoy!

Afternoon Reading

Usually when I'm sitting in the living room, off in my own little world, and realize I haven't heard a peep from Nathan in a while, I get nervous. More often than not, a quiet kid is doing something he probably shouldn't. So when that happened this afternoon, I tiptoed into his bedroom to discover him surrounded by books, slowly turning pages and reciting all of the words he has memorized. Sure this isn't the first time I've caught him reading, but I thought I'd go ahead and share a few pictures. Happy Friday! And even happier weekend - we are counting down the hours until our company arrives tomorrow - Grammy, Poppy, Joley and Riley! :)

Four-Wheelin'

So yesterday (you know, the boy's day) ended with some pretty great weather compared to the frigid cold we've been faced with for so long. We jumped on the opportunity to get out of the stinkin' house and enjoy that big, beautiful yard we've been staring at all winter. Luckily, I had made it home in time to see Jonathan and Nathan create their own four-wheeler track! Nathan loves it so much - just look at that goofy grin he gets when he feels the air rush through his cute little hair. Heck, they were having so much fun I jumped on the back for a few rounds. :) Like father, like son... like mama, too! Enjoy the photos and remember to check back for more! I'm trying my best to (sort of) stick to the blog's name now that I have a little more room in my days. Happy Tuesday!

Lunch with Daddy-O

So today Nathan got a break from school in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Jonathan got a break from work because, well it just worked out that way. Me, I went to work - those people in Nashville have to get paid, you know! Anyway, it was officially a boy's day in. As I was working away at my desk, a photo came to my phone showing a cute little boy sipping his root beer and chowing down on chicken nuggets. I hastily reply with, "SO this is what happens when I'm not home?! You guys go to McDonald's and leave me to be the parent that makes him eat green beans with his lunch?!" He sends me back: "yep, I'm the daddy-o." Maybe I'm slightly jealous, but I'm glad these two had such a great day together. :) Happy Monday, I hope your lunch was equally spectacular!

Breakfast Art

Seventy-five percent of the time, when I hand Nathan a bowl of his desired cereal in the mornings, it ends up all over the counter or on the floor. However, it was a bit of a different story today. While he was chowing down on his fruit loops and I was getting the house a little bit in order, he said, "Look! I made a smiley face!" Knowing there was a notebook and a pen right next to him, I figured he was just doodling during breakfast, but when I went to see the masterpiece, I found out he was using a different medium. Cereal art! :) So cute I had to get pictures and capture a few moments of his work on video. It's a pretty good happy face, huh? Happy Saturday!

Like My Daddy

So I just had a hankering to add a few pictures today, mostly because I know everyone gets excited to see what our cute little guy is up to! SO here are a few of my latest pictures - all of Nathan trying to be just like his daddy, whom he has recently referred to as "the best dad I ever saw." Anyway, check him out in his camo hat and working on his "homework" as my mom and Jonathan prepare for their upcoming McDonald's managerial classes. Pretty cute kid, huh? Especially the last pic - I couldn't resist posting this classic cheese face. Happy Tuesday!

A True Rock Star

So this afternoon Nathan and I were playing in the living room and he started rocking out on his guitar. He was so into it, he didn't even notice when I snuck to grab the camera and catch a video of the sweet dance moves and guitar playing. However, as soon as I started recording, he really turned into a rock star and couldn't get enough of the camera. As you can see, he instantly started with the cheese and then was vain enough to say he didn't want to perform, he just wanted to watch himself. Pretty accurate, right? (And get a load of those pretty eyes!)

How Very Merry!

Christmas in the Bauer house seemed to be a blur this year! From Thanksgiving to New Year's Day was nonstop family fun and I've just now found a few minutes to get away and post a few more pictures of our little guy. This year we did Christmas morning and Christmas day at Nana and Grampa's house and were able to visit with the entire family - including my brother and his girlfriend! It was very merry, indeed. This was an especially fun year for Nathan as he knew exactly what was going on with Santa Claus! He came home with everything from a drum set and a tractor to puzzles and books galore! I even went out on a limb and got him the finger paints. :) The day after Christmas, Grammy and Poppy came down to visit us and we celebrated the season all over again! We cooked a great big (delicious) meal and, of course, Nathan opened even more presents. This resulted in a brand-new scooter and even more books and movies. This kid is absolutely good until his birthday, so don't get any bright ideas! Well, I just wanted to write the annual Christmas update and share our pictures. I hope your Christmas was just as merry! Happy New Year, too - we know 2010 is going to be a good one.

Love,
Jessica
