Digging in the Dirt

There has been quite a bit of dirt under my fingernails, lately - but with good reason! Jonathan, Nathan and I recently completed Outside Project I, which included redoing the flower beds in our front yard. Nathan loves tending to the "ah-zale-ia" bushes, as you can see. :) The pansies we planted last fall popped right up with the sunshine, so all we had to do was spread a truck load of mulch, plant some azalea bushes and, my personal favorite, plant our Japanese Maple tree. I really wanted to do a tree in the flower bed this year as a memorial for the baby we lost last month. It's not really extravagant or even obvious for that matter, but we know what it means to us. As simple as it is, I wanted something that I could actually watch grow and turn into something beautiful before my eyes, as I know he or she would have. :)

Outside Project II is also in the works... Soil has been prepared and dirt will definitely be flying this week as we move to the backyard, but here are some hints to give you an idea of what we're up to. Believe me, a blog post is soon to follow.

Happy Monday, y'all!
