Throwing Back

{Sorry about the quality. Photos weren't primed for the Internet in the '80s.}

We're going back about 29 years for Throwback Thursday {and also to about ten days ago).

When my mom arrived for Easter Dinner and saw my daughter decked out in her eyelet dress and fancy bonnet, she was on a mission. A photo-taking, Facebook-posting mission. She'd told me earlier that she had found photos of my first Easter, during which I was just a month younger than Nora is now. She knew I sported a bonnet similar to the one Nora had, but she was ecstatic when she saw they were almost identical. Plus, I was posing with a debonair mid-20s version of my dad, so she knew a photo with a replacement baby must be done.

After viewing these pictures together, I have learned four things:

1. Despite the fact that many family members thought otherwise, Nora June has officially taken the heavyweight baby champion title from me. My baby rolls were vast, but her thunder thighs don't lie.
2. We can both work a bonnet.
3. My dad's style in glasses is impeccable.
4. My daughter doesn't look a thing like me.

Oh sure, you can say we both have eyes and hair and a nose and flounder all you want to convince me that this one will turn into the spitting image of Little Jessica. It's not true. That blonde-haired, blue-eyed beauty is the most gorgeous baby girl I know, but that has nothing to do with me. I see Jonathan in her, especially around the eyes, and many people have likened her to a miniature version of her Aunt B, but the buck stops there. I could probably easily find pictures to prove this, but that's beside the point. The point is my dad sure loves his little girls and though we may not be matched together in a family lineup, Nora and I make for some dang cute babies. That is all.

Happy Thursday, y'all!
